Radiographic technology is the art and science of producing medical images using X-radiation. These images can be used for routine diagnostic needs or as part of complex research. Technologists produce images for radiologist’s interpretation to assist in medical diagnosis. It is not a dangerous job. The dangers of radiation are well known and well managed. A conscientious technologist can derive much personal satisfaction from contributing to the success of the healthcare team and the well-being of the patient.

JOB/CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
A career in radiologic technology can go in many directions. They may work in a large hospital, a suburban outpatient clinic or a rural doctor’s office. They could specialize in dozens of medical areas, from prenatal care to orthopedics. They could manage the entire radiology department, along with its budget and staffing. With further education, they can become radiologist assistants and expand their abilities by working as radiologist extenders.
