JEE

JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination. It’s a common entrance exam in India for admission to various engineering colleges, including the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Eligibility criteria for JEE

  1. Age Limit:

    • For JEE Main: There is no specific age limit for appearing in the JEE Main examination. However, for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1999. Relaxation of 5 years is provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PWD categories.
  2. Academic Qualification:

    • For JEE Main: Candidates must have passed their class 12th examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019, 2020, or should be appearing in 2021. The candidate must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th or qualifying examination.
    • For JEE Advanced: Candidates must have cleared the JEE Main examination and secured a rank within the specified cutoff. Additionally, they must have appeared for their class 12th board exams or any equivalent examination for the first time in either 2020 or 2021.
  3. Percentage Requirement:

    • For JEE Main: Candidates must have secured at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in their class 12th board exams or must be in the top 20 percentile in their respective boards.
    • For JEE Advanced: There is no minimum percentage requirement to appear in JEE Advanced. However, candidates must secure the specified JEE Main cutoff marks.
  4. Number of Attempts:

    • Candidates can attempt JEE Main a maximum of three times in consecutive years. However, the number of attempts may change due to policy revisions.
  5. Nationality:

    • For JEE Main: Candidates must be Indian nationals. However, foreign nationals are also eligible to appear for JEE Main. They must satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down by the respective institutes.
    • For JEE Advanced: Candidates must be Indian nationals. Foreign nationals are not eligible to appear in JEE Advanced.
